Message from CV President

Dear Central Valley School Nurses,

The mission of the California School Nurses Organization is to ensure that school nurses optimize student health and enhance learning

Our Central Valley Section CSNO Leadership team is here to support school nurses who are working hard every day to ensure that each and every student receives competent, appropriate health care at school.  Our Central Valley Credentialed School Nurses work hard to provide appropriate health services to a culturally, socioeconomically diverse community.  Central Valley School Nurses rock!

As the Credentialed School Nurse, we are the experts in caring for students in school.  School nurses are uniquely qualified to conduct nursing assessments that include physical health, mental health, and social and economic needs, all of which impact the well-being of children daily. We work hard to overcome barriers, facilitating access to health care and social services. We have multiple roles such as supervisor, trainer/educator, coordinator, case manager, collaborator, assessment, evaluation for health and safety of our students, just to name a few.  Most often, we are the first health professional our students see.  I do not know how many times, I have had a parent ask me “can you look at my child’s throat”, or the student says “ my mom said to have the school nurse check me.”

CSNO this year, especially, has stepped up and held zoom calls to discuss reopening of our schools, and with the help of our members (you) put out a reopening guideline for School Nurses that gained State and National Recognition.

I invite you to attend our section conference, which features local medical professionals who share their expertise through interactive presentations.  Our state conferences features presentations from state and national health care professionals. They will be virtual this year due to Covid 19, but we are putting together some great speakers on current topics, not limited to Covid 19.  We cordially invite you to join us on Facebook, and to participate in our section and state conferences.  Please join us!!
